Dreams of Steam, has an interesting story behind its creation.
do something for one of their anthologies for some time, and I kept promising,
but never saw anything that grabbed me personally. But at a booksigning
in Corinth, MS, Allan informed me that Kerlak was doing a steampunk
anthology. I have to admit to being a not-so-closet fan of
Agatha Heterodyne, Girl Genius, not to mention H.G. Wells, Jules Verne,
etc. So this announcement of Allan's piqued my interest.
Huntsville AL, my husband Darrell and I brainstormed ideas.
entire story put together in the 2-hour drive home! Another 2 hours (I was up
until after 3am), and the story was not only in the computer, but winging
its electronic way to Allan. He read it, loved it, and forwarded it to the
anthology's editor, the delightfully fun Kimberly Richardson. Kim loved it
too, and here it is.
